Refresh Business Rules in Fundamentals

Issue - A Business Rule (Document Approval, Document Line Approval, Validation Rule) is setup correctly, but the document or line status is not correct. 


Example 1 - A validation rule is correct on a document line, but the status is showing Invalid and a user cannot post.


Example 2 - A document line approval exists and the line should be routed for approval, but the line status is Valid instead of Submit for Approval.


Solution - Periodically the business rule tables may need to be refreshed. This may be necessary if rules have been changed in the system. Follow these steps to refresh Business Rule.


Please note - We recommended you follow these steps after hours when users are not entering or posting transactions in the system.


  1. Make sure your user is assigned to the Business Manager role.
    1. Click on the gear icon in Business Central
    2. Select My Settings
    3. In Role, select Business Manager
  2. From Navigation Menu select Fundamentals Utilities
  3. Click Refresh Business Rules
  4. Read the warning message. Click Yes to continue.
  5. Once rules have been refreshed, go to the original transaction and click Post >> Refresh Status
